South African Airways case study
South African Airways (SAA) is the leading carrier in Africa. In partnership with SA Express, SA Airlink and its low cost carrier, Mango, it serves 56 destinations within South Africa and across the continent, and nine intercontinental routes from its Johannesburg hub. It is a member of the largest international airline network, Star Alliance.
SAA has been the winner of the ‘Best Airline in Africa’ Award in the World Airline Awards for 12 consecutive years and in 2015, Mango (also a FuelPlus customer) won ‘Best Low Cost Airline in Africa’ as well.
South African Airways was one of the first FuelPlus customers outside of Germany, so they’ve been using our fuel management software for over 10 years.
HOW SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS HAS BENEFITED
Our fuel management system has brought clear cost savings and other benefits to the airline:
“Having all fuel data in one place and at our fingertips has been invaluable” says Mark Vaughn, Head of Fuel Management at SAA. “We’ve also saved money by being able to properly control our accounts and automate processes.”
WHY SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS CHOSE US
“We liked the fact that FuelPlus could offer one software program which covered all aspects of aviation fuel management. This makes things simpler and means all key data is easy to access” explains Mark.
“We were also impressed by the company’s willingness to improve the product all the time and take what the customer wants into account.”
