FuelPlus announces new module for Fuel Efficiency Monitoring and Reporting
FuelPlus Software GmbH (FPS) redefines fuel management in the light of record fuel prices. With fuel being the #1 cost for airlines, fuel management should not only provide efficient fuel supply and fuel accounting, but also efficient fuel usage.
In order to get a grip on fuel efficiency, airlines will have to establish a fuel management office responsible to discuss, initiate, and supervise fuel efficiency initiatives across the company. These initiatives, ranging from pilot techniques to center of gravity management, would involve flight dispatch, flight operations, ground handling, and maintenance departments.
The role of the fuel management office includes measuring and monitoring the effect of each initiative by using actual and planned data from various airline systems, which calls for the implementation of a fuel management information system.
FPS is committed to support the aviation industry in establishing efficient fuel management processes. As part of this commitment, FPS will extend the enterprise fuel management system FuelPlus EFM to provide functions for collecting and analyzing operational data required for fuel efficiency reporting.
FPS is inviting members of the FuelPlus User Group (FPUG) and other interested airlines to join the special interest group (SIG) "Fuel Efficiency" and to work with FPS on the final requirements.
The new FuelPlus EFM module is expected to become available at the end of August 2010 as part of FuelPlus release 4.4.
