Emission forecasting and monitoring with FuelPlus EFM
Carbon emissions have become a high priority issue, not just because the European Union included air transport in the Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) beginning in 2012. Under this new plan, all airlines flying to, from, and within Europe are subject to carbon emissions monitoring and reporting, beginning in 2009.
FuelPlus has prepared its flagship product, FuelPlus EFM, to meet airline challenges in carbon emissions forecasting and monitoring.
Emissions forecasts can be calculated using future flight schedules and statistical consumption data in order to estimate the quantity of expected carbon emissions. Based on this estimate, the airline can secure the required number of emission certificates necessary to operate to and within European airspace.

Actual carbon emissions are monitored on a flight by flight basis using FuelPlus' sophisticated Operations module. This is reported per area, month, or any other total to provide a detailed picture of the current emissions balance.

FuelPlus EFM also allows the user to generate variance reports to compare forecasted vs. actual carbon emissions in order to adjust the number of required emission certificates.

Future versions of the FuelPlus EFM product will contain functions to manage emission certificates and to calculate the costs of carbon emissions.
