New user interface coming with Release 5.0

In the summer of 2010, FuelPlus Release 5.0 will be made available in a new look-and-feel. As already announced at this year's user group meeting in Vienna, Austria during August, FuelPlus Software GmbH is working on the implementation of a new user interface that will not only replace the current layout, but also simplify the integration with other applications.

The first components of FuelPlus EFM have been implemented a long time ago, by using the state-of-the art technology of the 90's: Oracle database and Oracle Forms. Although a facelift was applied to the user interface in 2004, the overall look-and-feel of the application is not as modern as FuelPlus and our customers would want.

From the beginning, FuelPlus has been designed to separate the user interface and business functionality. Therefore, replacing the user interface is possible without touching the code that implements the underlying business functionality of the system. So FuelPlus 5.0 will be based on the same database and application engine as the already proven FuelPlus 4.2, giving stability and robustness from the start.

The new user interface will be implemented as a "Rich Internet Application" (RIA), incorporating Web 2.0 features. This will improve both the usability and the layout, and it will also simplify deployment of the application. On top, the new interface also can be used to ease the integration with other applications, since the same functions can be used by users or linked IT systems.

A first prototype has been presented at the recent user group meeting. It proved the feasibility of the technology and will be used as a basis for further development.
