New features and product highlights were presented at the User Group Meeting in Vienna

The 9th Annual FuelPlus User Group Meeting in Vienna during 19-20 August 2008 featured the debut of the new Tender Module that is now available for airline users as well as a new Service Desk process that will aid in customer service.

Nine airlines attended the event: ANA, Atlas Air/Polar Air Cargo, Austrian Airlines, Etihad Airlines, Kenya Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines, and South African Airways.

The new Tender Module closes the gap with jet fuel procurement, allowing an airline to smoothly and transparently handle the tender process and make a cost-efficient decision when awarding a contract. Suppliers also benefit from the refined process.
(For more information on the Tender Module, please contact Klaus-Peter Warnke.)

The event also featured the introduction of a new Service Desk process to improve incident tracking and monitoring. A new Internet-enabled self service ability is being made available this month.

The airlines made several requests before and during the meeting for product improvements. Both AirTran and Avianca have requested tax-related reporting improvements, and other suggestions included support for fuel dumps, additional reports on contract expiry, tankering price calculations, and automated creation of areas for countries and regions.

FuelPlus also presented the future technology platform and a new user interface that will be offered in the upcoming FuelPlus Release 5. In addition, Klaus-Peter Warnke presented the current European Union emission trading scheme on jet fuel emissions that will affect all airlines flying into and within the region. FuelPlus has developed a solution to help airlines measure, control, and report fuel emissions to comply with the new legislation.

In addition, attendees were treated to a presentation by Lufthansa's Dr. Peter Lennartz about the financial tools involved in fuel hedging followed by a discussion about requirements for a future FuelPlus Hedging Module.

The meeting ended with a presentation of FuelPlus' new Report Module which allows the generation of user-defined reports using commonly available standard report writer tools. The new Report Module will be available in Q3/2008 as a standard component of FuelPlus Release 4.2. The next FuelPlus User Group Meeting is planned for September 2009.
