Using the new FuelPlus Emissions module, airlines can now monitor emissions and tonne-kilometre data and report their totals to the governmental authorities.

FuelPlus Emissions handles the monitoring and reporting of all relevant data based on actual flight events and fuel delivery messages. The product calculates tonne-kilometre data, actual consumption, and CO2 emissions for all flights covered by the EU ETS rules. These data are available per individual flight event and can be accumulated over one year to provide the correct legal reports:

  • For the required tonne-kilometre data, which are needed when applying for the free emission allowances.
  • For the verified CO2 emissions which have to be reported annually and in line with the report templates proposed in the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) guidelines.

In addition, FuelPlus Emissions calculates emission forecasts by using planned flight schedules. A variance report allows airlines to compare the planned emissions with actual ones to decide in a timely manner whether to buy additional emission credits, or whether the carrier can sell surplus allowances for profit.

As the industry moves ahead, FuelPlus Emissions will be enhanced with additional features to manage the allowance account of an airline. Users will be able to capture allowance transactions such as purchases or sales. This will become part of the airline’s financial history.

FuelPlus Emissions, using market data, can calculate an average price per allowance and therefore determine the costs of CO2 emissions for every single flight event. This can aid an airline not only in aircraft choice for the route, but also in route profitability.

FuelPlus Emissions can be installed by itself within two weeks or in combination with existing FuelPlus software.
